Dental Hygiene

Premium preventative dental and oral health service at an affordable price.

It’s tempting to believe that brushing your teeth is all you have to do to keep them healthy. The truth is that a regular visit to a good dental surgery makes a huge difference to how your teeth look and feel – not only now, but in the future.

Prevention better than cure

ConfiDent Surgeries’ highly-trained dentists work with all the family. We create personalised oral health checks and routines that will keep your teeth strong, healthy and fresh. During your appointment, your dentist will discuss your questions and concerns regarding dental hygiene and offer advice on regular cleaning. Our team believes that preventative care is always better than fixing problems later on, and can also help your teeth to look their very best.

FAQS

Regular and thorough brushing and flossing really does make a huge difference, but most people will need extra help from their dentist to prevent a build-up of tartar.

Plaque is a layer that builds up naturally over your teeth and gums. It’s important to remove it as much as possible by regular brushing and flossing. Tartar is what accumulates if plaque is left on your teeth for too long. It’s hard, and cannot be removed by brushing. Regular visits to the dentist will keep both under control.

Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease where bacteria builds up on the teeth and gum tissue. It causes irritation and swelling around the base of your teeth (the gingiva). If untreated it may develop into periodontitis, a later stage of gum disease, which is much harder to treat and cannot always be reversed.

Sadly, if we develop bad breath we are often the last to know. Fortunately, there is usually a reason behind it. Visiting your dentist is a great first step to investigating the source, improving bad breath and maintaining a healthier, fresher mouth.

For teeth kept in good condition, a scale and polish should not hurt at all. However, if your mouth and teeth are sensitive due to a build-up of plaque or the presence of gum disease, there could be mild discomfort.

A dental hygienist is only ever free on the NHS dentist if the visit is clinically required. ConfiDent Surgeries is not an NHS dentist and hygiene is addressed as part of your appointment with a top qualified dentist. In the long run, looking after your teeth now is likely to save you both time and money in the future – as well as keeping your smile looking great.
