What is a Dental Emergency?
Non-urgent conditions include:
- Broken dentures
- General toothache
- Loss of a tooth in a sports injury
- Issues that are aesthetic (for example, dislodged crowns) rather than threatening to health
- Problems with an orthodontic appliance
- Patients with no significant pathology
Dental emergency classification includes:
- Uncontrollable dental haemorrhage
- Rapid swelling around the throat or eye
- Trauma confined to the dental arches
- Infections that are spreading
